For anyone who is not familiar with Free Comic Book Day, it is an annual event in which comic book stores give away free comics to anyone and everyone to encourage people young and old to read.
Many stores celebrate the special event, which is on Saturday May 4th, with costume contests, creator signings and all kinds of fun things. It is a great day and lots of fun.
I have made a directory of as many stores I could find celebrating the day and have special events happening from all around the world. Click below to see if there is a store near you.
Keep your eyes peeled to these pages as they will most likely be updated up until the day!
After two years of doing my own characters I have decided to showcase other people characters. I plan on having a mixture of great finds and submissions.
If you want to submit your work feel free to do so at the link below…
Attention creative people! You should take advantage of this if you want some exposure.
I don’t do many reviews on How to Love Comics but here is my review for The Private Eye #1 by Brian K Vaughn (Y: The Last Man, Ex Machina, Saga) and Marcos Martin (Amazing Spider-Man, Daredevil)
If you have already read it or went out and read it based on review let me know what you thought in the review comments.

So I drew this comic back in August, and since then it’s spread across the internet the vast majority of the time lacking any credit towards me, which i’m sure you can imagine is really frustrating. I’m messaged on a pretty regular basis by people asking me if I drew this comic oh wow it’s on reddit or 9gag or facebook with all these likes and other website and other website etc etc but it’s always lacking a source back to me.
It’s happened a lot and I’m kind of used to the fact it’s doing uncredited rounds (still mad but used to it) but when this was bought to my attention it really really pissed me off to a new level of being pissed off. If you see an unsourced comic and credit it, you are a good person. If you are posting a comic that is not yours and you credit it, it is appreciated!
If you post a comic and don’t source it and then it spreads like wildfire and the original artist’s credit is nowhere to be found and then the comic gets watermarked with copyrights to stupid websites then you are a BAD EGG AND WE CAN’T BE FRIENDSPLEASE PLEASE PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU CREDIT SOMEONE’S WORK IF YOU’RE GOING TO PUT IT UP ELSEWHERE ONLINE
IT’S IMPORTANT
I am always frustrated when I see this. When I did Project daily there was always people who liked to delete any text that indicated that I made it.
I also had a person contact me on Flickr who wanted use my designs for an extremely terrible t-shirt cafepress store.
Even though I firmly said that he did not have permission I was still paranoid so I was forced to put a watermark on my work.
Ideally I would have prefered to not have a watermark in the corner of my work, but since there is a lot of people who do not credit artists (especially on Pinterest and Tumblr) I sort of forced to.
MORAL OF THE STORY: Give credit to artists. Without the artist you would not have that piece of work to repin or reblog. Also do not put your watermark on someone else’s work, it is dishonest and misleading.
After two year I have decided it is time to end Project Daily, with today being the final character. Why? Mostly due to time. When It began I had plenty of time to work on characters, now-a-days I can’t afford to spend some much time on it. 738 straight days (two years) of characters is a very long time and it felt like the right time to finish the blog.
I would also like to thank all 3506 of Project Daily’s followers and everyone who has ever rebloged or liked a character, especially the ones who do so on such a regular basis. Without the awesome people who follow Project Daily I’d probably would have given up a long time ago.
Stay tuned for what I will be up to post-Project Daily.
